How it works

1. Start from the official number. NOAA’s 1991–2020 climate normal — the same one your weather app uses.

2. Measure the local trend. Each county’s warming rate, fit to NOAA’s homogenized record back to 1895 using NOAA’s published hinge-fit method.

3. Advance it to today. The normal is centered on mid-2005 — 20.5 years ago. Nowmal moves it to 2026. Full methodology →
